Par2: Deriving new PrimeAutoInc method 1999-04-16 -- Jim Kane > I'm newbee in deriving methods and the doc/help doesn't help me enough. I > don't see when/where the key is incremented and when/where the record is > created. > Press Global, Press Embeds, search the embed list for Hide:access:FileNameYouAreInterestedIn, look just below that for cancel and prime autoinc methods. Type you code in the embeds. ABC does the deriving for you. Look at the generated code in appnamebc#.clw to see what is generated to help in understanding. The only problem is a few of the key abc variables for auto inc are private (info Q) sometimes it's necessary to go to abfile.inc and delete the word private or change it to protected if you run into conflicts. If you need to add a new class member variable to hold the actual autoinc value, press global, go to the classes tab and it can be added there or go to abfile.inc and just type it in.
