    Trancode{PROP:LogonScreen}=False 
    OPEN(Trancode) 
    if errorcode()
      message('  Program could not connect to yaddayadda',' &|
             'Connection Problem',icon:hand)
      return
    end
    CLOSE(Trancode)


At VERY start of my programs I usually do something like the above...

This line prevents the MS-Logon screen if connection fails
Opens one of my smallest files temporarily to test the connection
thru 7 handles errors and pops up my message...
