Par2: Setting up Windows 2000 for Clarion Compatibility

Note: This process will need to be done for all computers that have windows 2000 on them if you want to properly run Clarion tool tips. · Close all other applications before beginning. · Launch the registry of the machine: o Go to start o Then run o Type in regedt32 · The registry editor will come up, and there are two values which you need to change: o One is - HKEY_CURRENT_USER and the other is - HKEY_USERS · For HKEY_CURRENT_USER you will need to EXPAND the drop down list under Control Panel and then SELECT the Desktop heading so that the settings are shown on the right hand side. · Double click on the 'User Preferences ma...' (or however it appears) and an 'Edit Binary Value' box will pop up. · You will need to change the value of the first character that appears depending on what it is: o If the first is "e", then replace with "6" o If the first is "a", then replace with "2" o If the first is "c", then replace with "4" o If the first is "b", then replace with "3" o If the first is "8", then replace with "0" o If the first is "9", then replace with "0" >>> PRESS OK when you are finished · For HKEY_USERS you will need to EXPAND the drop down lists under Default then Control Panel and then SELECT the Desktop heading so that the settings are shown on the right hand side. o Then follow the same instructions as for HKEY_CURRENT_USER o Close main window. · Restart your computer.
