But you can do what we did we wrote a little "ToolBar" app that launches the different entry points we wanted... Like Browse Customer Thread Browse Employee Thread Browse Reports etc... So the user has a toolbar floating around to launch the threads instead of the "Frame" paradigm you were used to. SDI by the way is Thread proof -- unlike A MDI program....
